Environmental testing

The term climatic testing describes the stressing of components under environmental conditions that are relevant for the component in question. The parameters of the climatic environment, and transition times, can be regulated on the basis of test stipulations or individual customer specifications. They serve the purpose of revealing weak points in components with an accelerated action.

Usually the parameters temperature (Heat/Cold) and relative himidity are regulated. The following climatic tests, among others, are offered by RIO GmbH:

Ambient and climatic tests in accordance with DIN EN ISO 60068-2-XX

Cyclical temperature stresses:

DIN EN 60068-2-1
Environmental testing: Part 2: Tests
Test A: Cold

DIN EN 60068-2-2
Environmental testing: Part 2: Tests
Test group B: Dry heat

DIN EN 60068-2-14
Environmental testing: Part 2: Tests
Test N: Change of temperature

DIN EN 60068-2-30
Environmental testing: Part 2: Tests
Test Db and guidelines: Damp heat, cyclic (12 h + 12 h cycle)

DIN EN 60068-2-38
Environmental testing: Part 2: Tests
Test Z/AD: Composite temperature/humidity cyclic test

DIN EN 60068-2-78
Environmental testing: Part 2-78: Tests
Test Cab: Damp heat, steady state

DIN EN 60068-3-1
Environmental testing: Part 3: Supporting documentation and guidance
- Cold and dry heat tests

further environmental tests:

GOST standards

RTCA/DO-160G

DIN EN 2591 - XXX tests aerospace

DIN EN 60512-11-X tests on plugs and connectors

DIN EN ISO 4541 Corrodkote corrosion testing

Temperature shock tests:

Temperature shock testing (thermal shock or also thermoshock testing) is a variation on cyclical temperature stress. In this variation the component is subjected to considerable temperature differences in a very short time. This can produce unacceptable metallurgical changes in the component or the adhesion properties of coatings.

RIO GmbH tests in accordance with DIN EN ISO 2819 among other regulations.
