DAkkS-Accreditation

RIO GmbH operates both a test laboratory and a calibration laboratory. That is why we are not certified according to ISO 9001 but accredited according to DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025. Laboratories that meet the DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025 standard are automatically in compliance with ISO 9001.
We are accredited by Deutsche Akkreditierungsstelle GmbH (DAkkS) according to DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025 with registration numbers D-K-17376-01-00 and D-PL-17376-01-00.
DAkkS assesses, verifies and monitors the technical competence of the testing and the calibration laboratories of RIO GmbH. Through the accreditation, DAkkS attests that RIO performs its tasks with the necessary technical competence and in accordance with the relevant standards and statutory requirements.

Who is DAkkS?

DAkkS is the national accreditation body for the Federal Republic of Germany. Pursuant to Regulation (EC) No. 765/2008 and the German Accreditation Body Act (AkkStelleG), DAkkS acts in the public interest and as the sole provider of accreditations in Germany. What is accreditation?

Definition of the term accreditation according to DIN EN ISO/IEC 17011:
"Accreditation refers to third-party attestation related to a conformity assessment body conveying formal demonstration of its competence to carry out specific conformity assessment tasks"
Note: What is flexible accreditation?
Our calibration laboratory (division "PMÜ") and our test laboratory (division "RIO") have been granted Accreditation of Flexible Scope, Category III according to DAkkS 71 SD 0 002: "With this category it is possible to confirm on the annex to the accreditation certificate the application of standardised or equivalent methods/calibration procedures with different issue dates." In other words, RIO independently evaluates new versions of the standards for which it is accredited and determines whether it meets the amended requirements. If this is the case, there is no need for re-assessment by DAkkS.
For certain types of tests performed at its test laboratory, RIO holds an Accreditation of Flexible Scope, Category I, which means that it has "free choice of standard methods or equivalent/similar methods within a defined testing field". This means that, within these scopes, RIO is entitled to independently evaluate and verify testing standards (DIN, EN and ISO standards; internal standards) and to perform the respective tests within the accredited scope. To meet the requirements of the accreditation, RIO maintains a list of all test methods it uses within this flexible scope.
A testing field is defined by the testing method (e.g. hardness test), the matrix/sample/specimen to be tested (e.g. soil, water, plastic, oil) and the property/testing parameter/analyte (e.g. shore hardness, cadmium concentration, pH).

Note: certain accreditations no longer limited in time

DAkkS memo of 07 March 2019:
