Dezincification resistance
Testing for dezincification is an important constituent part of quality assurance for materials on a copper-zinc basis (such as brass). This form of corrosion frequently occurs under thick layers of other corrosion products or lime in systems carrying water. The formation of a biofilm can also contribute to the dezincification of brass components.
In dezincification the zinc is dissolved out of the surface of the affected component. As a result, this produces spongy copper structures that can lead to material fatigue.
We carry out the testing in accordance with AS 2345 and DIN EN ISO 6509.
