Hardness tests

The hardness of a material is likewise one of its mechanical properties and should be monitored regularly in production or delivery processes. The following hardness tests, among others, are offered by RIO GmbH:

  • Hardness tests on materials by the Brinell method in accordance with DIN EN ISO 6506 -1, Vickers testing in accordance with DIN EN ISO 6507 -1 and Rockwell testing in accordance with DIN EN ISO 6508 -1
  • Shore hardness tests of polymer materials in accordance with DIN EN ISO 868DIN 53505 (withdrawn)
  • Microhardness tests
  • Recording of hardness line charts
  • Determination of the effective depth of hardening DS in accordance with DIN EN 10328, the effective case depth CHD in accordance with DIN EN ISO 2639, or the effective nitrided case depth Nht in accordance with DIN 50190 -3

For example, conclusions can be drawn from the determined values as to whether the manufactured or bought-in product has achieved its desired properties and whether it can be approved for further use. Determination of the hardness is likewise an important factor in the area of damage analysis.
